Guild Works Announces New Projects

Tue Nov 3, 2009, 4:39 AM
The newly established creative studio, Guild Works Publications, announced this weekend plans for two new projects. The group is currently soliciting submissions to Best Shots, a full color pinup book featuring illustrations of women wielding guns of all shapes and sizes. GWP leaders, Keith Murphey and Hector Rodriguez, plan to also produce an anthology series entitled Worst Case Scenario, with the first issue based on the real person’s reaction to a zombie attack.

To participate, writers interested in submitting to Worst Case Scenario are invited to submit their story synopsis proposals, along with the submitter’s full contact information, the title of the story, an estimated page count and a description of relevant characters. Story proposals should not exceed one standard typed, single-spaced page. In line with the company’s intent to publish adult-oriented material, the content of story proposals is unrestricted, yet no pornographic content will be accepted. All story proposals are due by December 3, 2009 and should be sent via email to Chris Buchner, Editor-in-Chief for GWP, at atomic_comics@hotmail.com.

The studio is also seeking pencilers, inkers, colorists and letterers, for both projects. To participate in either of these capacities, submitters are asked to submit three examples of their very best work to Guild Works’ Art Director, Hector Rodriguez. Also due by December 3rd, submissions should be emailed to hbdeviant@yahoo.com.

For more detailed submission guidelines, please visit the company’s website at [link], or the Guild Works Facebook group.

Guild Works Publications, the revitalized creative partnership of Keith Murphey and Hector Rodriguez, is the current publisher for the popular horror series, Hell’s Blood. The duo launched their website and welcomed their new editorial team in October 2009. The studio is dedicated to creating comics for the mature reader.

Born January 2nd, 1973. Keith Murphey is an American comic book artist, writer, and publisher. He attended Paier College of Art and graduated in June of 1996, with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. Keith was a student of NYC illustrator Timothy O’Brien and studied under Silver Age artist Frank McLaughlin. Upon graduation he did work for Blue Comet Press. In the fall of 2000, he founded the Comicbook Artists Guild with the help of his friend and partner Robert King. Numerous branches soon opened in NYC and Massachusetts. The first CAG anthology was published in the fall of 2001. The anthology became a bi-annual book in the summer of 2007 with the release of the CAG West Coast Anthology. The publication of the books led to several of Keith's original stories including Zombie Hunters, Silliman Farm, The Commander, and Rockabilly Rex.

2009 has proven to be a successful year for Keith and his artistic endeavors. In February, under his publishing company Guild Works Publications, Hell's Blood #1 was released. Created by his business partner and friend, Hector Rodriguez, the duo's first full-length project received a warm reception.

The year continued strong for Keith with three other projects to his name. Keith penciled Killer Cortez in Free Lunch Comics' Beyond the Kuiper Belt. He served as co-inker on Sky Pirates of Valendor #5, also by Free Lunch Comics. And he served as Art Director for CAG's first graphic novel Iconic, where he also penciled 2 short stories. Keith currently serves as Art Director for the Sky Pirates of Valendor series.

Keith is available for all sequential illustration, concept work, cover designs and character creation. See below for his commission rates! And visit [link] for a glimpse at his great talent.
